She is a chief nursing officer of a Richmond,Virgina hospital and a single mom.In the series,Christina Hawthorne(Jada Pinkett Smith)feels overwhelmed,grappling with her grief over her dead husband,a troublesome teenage daughter and the chaos of ever-demanding hospital patients and staff.



Smith's partners in the Hawthorne is Michael Vartan plays the role as Dr. Tom Wakefield oncologist and Chief of Surgery for the hospital.
