Name: Coda Automotive, a new breed of cars started by Miles EV. The Company been selling low-speed electric vehicles in China for some years.



The Coda sedan was disclose last week in Santa Monica, Calif. It is based on the Saibao, a gas-powered car built by the Hafei Automobile Group, a state-owned company in China. The chassis was originally developed by Mitsubishi [which licenses it to Hafei].



Hafei Motor was incorporated with government approval on September 20, 1994 as a foreign joint venture company with assets of 4.4 billion . It occupies an area of 1,050,000 and has a floor space of 350,000 . Further upgrading accomplished enabled welding, painting and final assembly operations to support two production lines running in parallel with an annual output of 300,000 units.



The Coda Electric Car has a lithium-ion battery system with a 33.8-kilowatt-hour
-battery pack. The sedan cruises about 90 to 120 miles and charge in less then
6 hours. The car's top speed is approximately 80 miles an hour.
